Twelve-time winners Saints have a rich Challenge Cup pedigree, but the reigning Super League champions have not won the showpiece final since 2008. Victory here would cap a 2021 double for Saints after their women’s team beat York City Knights earlier in the year at the Leigh Sports Village.

Castleford’s Challenge Cup wait has been even longer – they last won the tournament in 1986 – but they will be desperate to see off the Saints to give Daryl Powell the perfect send-off. Head coach Powell is leaving the Tigers at the end of the season. Will an emotionally charged afternoon end with celebrations for Castleford?
