Happily married Dan Gallagher cannot resist the attraction of Alex Forrest when they meet at a publishing event. When his wife Beth takes their daughter for a weekend away, he embarks on an affair which he assumes will just be for casual sex, but Alex has her sights on a more permanent relationship.
