A Taste of the City

A Taste of the City is an exploration of authentic cuisine in some of the world's most vibrant, dynamic cities. Journalist and foodie Kate Hardie-Buckley is on a mission to travel the globe - meeting cutting-edge chefs who are passionate about their city and local ingredients. Kate explores the chef's inspiration as she's set a challenge to find the best ingredients for her cooking lesson with the chefs. Kate starts off in Dubai, where trailblazing chef Amna Al Hashemi is pushing boundaries as the first professional female chef in the Emirates. Next, Kate's in Kuala Lumpur to meet step-mum and daughter duo Siti Kader and Shareen Ramli to explore their efforts to preserve Malay cuisine at their diner. Kate heads to Portugal for a cooking lesson with renowned international chef Nuno Mendes who's returned home to open his first restaurant in Lisbon. Kate ends her culinary trip in Istanbul, with chef Kemal Demirasal, a former windsurfer now creating waves in his ambitious test kitchen.
