Scottish Love in Action

For more than 20 years Scottish Love in Action (SLA) has been speaking up for vulnerable children in India and helping them to change their worlds. Together with our grassroots Indian partners, we inspire and encourage children and young people to escape the poverty trap and reach their fullest potential.

One girl’s story
SLA’s partner VOICE 4 Girls helped Maheshwari speak up when her sister was to be married off. She learnt child marriage is illegal and having children too young can be dangerous; she used this to convince her father to cancel the wedding.

Giving Girls A Voice
VOICE 4 Girls gives adolescent girls the knowledge and power to make their own choices. It educates them about their bodies, their health and their human rights; they share and use what they’ve learnt with their friends, families and communities, creating lasting social change in India.

The Impact

The Impact
Since 2016, SLA has partnered with VOICE 4 Girls to help 6,600 girls find their own voices, enabling them to stay in education and avoid early marriage, early childbirth, abuse and violence. When you invest in a girl, everybody wins.
