Semiconductors, also known as microchips, have revolutionised our lives through their use in computers, phones and everyday electronics. But before it even reaches our home, the parts of each semiconductor have travelled around the world up to three times. Babita Sharma visits a factory in the US to see how the ingredient parts of a microchip come together from across the planet, where they are assembled using US expertise built up over decades. The devices containing chips are changing lives: Finn travels to rural Kenya to meet Douglas, a farmer whose business is thriving thanks to the freedom that semiconductors provide.
