With the Martian invasion gathering pace, George and Amy each face their own terrifying ordeals. Desperate to be reunited, a lifeline comes to them at the beach.

George searches frantically for Amy but comes across more capsules. Soon he realises that the scale of the invasion is beyond his comprehension. Meanwhile, Amy and Frederick are at the Admiralty, looking for George and trying to help organise a response. As the invasion continues, Frederick decides they should go to his summer house in Shoeburyness. There they head to the beach to try to catch a boat away from Britain.
