With Viv Rook as prime minister, a new Britain takes shape, and Edith tries to investigate mysterious stories about The Disappeared. While Rosie searches for a solution to Daniel’s problems, she finds her estate being fenced off by the privatised police. As the climate worsens, flooding creates British refugees, forcing Muriel to reveal problems of her own. When Bethany is chosen for an upgrade at work, Stephen and Celeste unite to support her, although both are scared by what she’s becoming. In a desperate search for money, Stephen takes a job with his old school friend Woody, but finds himself trapped in a world of conspiracies, leading to the most extraordinary meeting of his life.
