On Christmas Day, as the snow begins to fall in Paris, Inspector Maigret receives two unexpected visitors.

A young girl claims to have seen Father Christmas in her room, behaving strangely and cutting a hole in the floor. He agrees to investigate.

Maigret and his colleagues trace his chief suspect's movements across Paris on Christmas morning.
