Technology
Endurance cyclist Lee Craigie jumps on her bike, Jimmy, to question our relationship with technology and how we connect to each other in the modern world.
The way that we communicate with each other has fundamentally changed. When did you last send or receive a handwritten letter? Long form has been replaced by bursts of 280 characters. Smartphones have become our modern day pen and paper.
But these changes bring with them much greater hidden transformations in how we, as humans, interact and engage with each other.
In this episode of Life Cycle, endurance cyclist Lee Craigie - who spends her time telling the stories of her expeditions using technology meets Chris Andrews. Distracted by pinging notifications Chris realised his relationship with his smartphone was affecting his life and relationships. Going cold turkey he decided to walk across the USA speaking to strangers about their relationship with smartphones - the key was speaking, face to face, to another person to establish how we really connect with each other.
