Jason Mohammad rounds up the highlights on a day in which nine track and field events are among the 27 gold medals to be decided. Those athletes looking to underline their credentials at the Carrera Stadium include heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson, 800m powerhouse Caster Semenya, New Zealand's imperious shot putter Valerie Adams and Australian sprint hurdler Sally Pearson.

There are also multiple finals in diving, with England's Tom Daley and Olympic champions Jack Laugher and Chris Mears all in action, as well as lawn bowls, rhythmic gymnastics, shooting and wrestling.
