Live coverage of the opening ceremony of the XXI Commonwealth Games from Gold Coast, Australia. Hazel Irvine is at the Carrara Stadium as Queensland welcomes the world ahead of 11 days of top-class sporting competition.

There is music, dance and breathtaking visual effects as Gold Coast showcases its unique culture and diversity. At the heart of the ceremony is the traditional Parade of Nations, where all the participating athletes walk behind the flags of their countries in a celebration of sporting unity.

The ceremony culminates with the Competitors' Oath and the finale to the Queen's Baton Relay, which has travelled 150,000 miles around every nation and territory in the Commonwealth.
