Susan's hopes are dashed, while David tries to swallow his pride.
Helen visits Brookfield to ask Pip if there's anything she can do to help with her pregnancy. Pip's hoping for lots of advice about bringing up a baby on her own. She's been so focused on how to tell her family that she hasn't really thought about what happens next. What if the baby arrives and she realises that she doesn't want to be a mother after all? Helen tries to allay her fears. It'll be hard work, but also the best thing that's ever happened to her.
Later, Pip tries to establish exactly how David feels. He's saying all the right things, but does he really want Toby's baby at Brookfield? Pip had always pictured the perfect partner and a traditional wedding. She's feeling so sad about messing up her life. David persuades her that she hasn't messed anything up. He even manages to make her laugh by claiming he's relieved not to be paying for that wedding!
At Bridge Farm Susan raves about her new kefir flavour to Clarrie. She's sure she's made a breakthrough. Meanwhile, Helen has a difficult conversation with Tom. The kefir hasn't been selling, and Helen persuades him that it's time to abandon the venture. Susan, who had regarded the kefir as the start of a whole new career, sees this as a disaster.
