Roy's determined to keep his relationship going once Lexi returns to Bulgaria. He confides to Ian that he hasn't felt this way about anyone since Hayley. Ian decides to broach the subject of surrogacy with Lexi. Later Lexi reports the conversation to Roy. She'd said that she'd be their surrogate "in another world", but now Ian wonders if there might be a way to make it happen. Roy laughs, thinking it's a crazy idea. Lexi hesitantly agrees. She'd like to help if she could. But surely it's impossible?

Pip invites Ruth and David for dinner at Rickyard. Ruth decides to bring wine, and meets Jennifer at the Village Shop. Jennifer asks if Pip has a boyfriend. Later Pip declines a glass of wine with dinner. Ruth reminds David that Pip didn't drink over Christmas either, but David doesn't see why this is significant. Pip mentions that she'll be 25 soon. By that age Ruth already had a young child, and she managed to keep working. David starts reminiscing, but Ruth interrupts - can't he see what Pip's trying to tell them? Ruth prompts Pip to reveal that she's going to have a baby. She wants her parents to see this as good news, and braces herself to reveal the identity of the father. A horrified David finally catches on. Toby Fairbrother!
