There is a shock in store for Christine, and Lynda has reservations.
At St Stephen's, Poppy's looking forward to the nativity play. Christine discovers that she's desperate to play an angel. Nic worries that she'll be disappointed - Alan hasn't even mentioned the nativity. In fact, with the pantomime to organise on top of his usual Christmas duties, Alan had forgotten all about it. He persuades a reluctant Nic to take over. They agree that they can't let the children down.
Lynda's keen to get Alan's opinion on her Sleeping Beauty script. Alan surprises her with the news that he is considering a range of options. He anticipates a good turnout for casting on Wednesday night. The pantomime will be a more relaxed affair this year. Lynda leaves him with a dire warning - if he isn't in control from the start things will quickly go wrong.
Lilian believes that the police will soon make the news of the Melling Equestrian Investments scam public. Peggy's shocked when Lilian informs her of Christine's involvement. They break the news to Christine as gently as possible. Christine tells them that she has lost about £50,000, and hastily retires to her room. Feeling guilty that she didn't discover the scam sooner, Lilian can't stop telling Peggy how sorry she is. Peggy's just glad Christine didn't invest even more.
