A new champion is guaranteed in the absence of reigning world and Olympic gold medallist Simone Biles, who is taking a break from the sport. With several other high-profile gymnasts absent, Canada's Ellie Black is the highest-ranked performer at last year's Olympic Games to be competing. Fifth in Rio, she will be backed by a fervent 10,000-strong home crowd as she seeks to become the first Canadian to win an artistic gymnastics world title.
