Robert has victory in mind, and Kate tries to do the right thing.

Jennifer and Brian think Noluthando should go to college while she is staying in Ambridge. Kate doesn't want to pressure her to go, arguing that the whole purpose of her trip was for Noluthando to know Kate again. Noluthando escapes to Lower Loxley, explaining to Freddie that Brian and Jennifer want her to go to college. Freddie thinks that college might be more fun than hanging around Home Farm as she could meet his friends. Later, Noluthando tells Kate that she will look into going to college under protest, and if she does go she will need some new clothes.

Lynda decides not to direct the Christmas Show this year as she wants to prioritise her hobbies and Robert's PC election campaign. While out canvassing, Robert has a strange encounter with Sabrina Thwaite and Brian takes him to task about not having enough passion for some of the local issues. Later, Robert confesses to Lynda that he doesn't feel cut out to be a politician and despite his best efforts in convincing Brian again, Brian says he has pledged his vote to Emma at the persuasion of Jim Lloyd. Suspecting Jim might have ulterior motives in helping Emma, Robert pledges war.
