Susan has been doing some maths, and Freddie spectacularly fails.

An immensely relieved Phoebe tells Lexi she is definitely not pregnant. Back at work she also hears that Freddie didn't do well in his AS exams, while Lily got straight As. Later, Freddie fails in his task of keeping Roy and Lexi apart as Phoebe requested. Phoebe persuades her dad not to invite Lexi along to the film they are seeing tonight.

Lynda suggests using the money Caroline left her for a commemorative bench at Grey Gables. Roy thinks it sounds perfect. He'd like to contribute and reckons Ian would too. Lynda resolves to run it by Oliver. Later, when Lynda finds Oliver in the grounds of Grey Gables, he isn't interested in chatting.

Susan is a convert to the miraculous properties of kefir, to Neil's amusement. Oliver's payment cards are rejected at the village shop. Susan concludes that Oliver is broke. She speculates Caroline and Oliver might be 'posh but poor'. Lynda and Neil don't agree; it's just grief affecting Oliver. The three of them wonder if Oliver will put Grey Gables up for sale. Susan reckons he will want Grange Farm back from the Grundys sooner than anyone expected.
