The first heat of the BBC New Comedy Award 2017 will be recorded at Up The Creek in London and it will be hosted by Nish Kumar. The judges will be the comedian Mae Martin, BBC Radio Comedy Editor Simon Nicholls, and Steve Bennett from Chortle. Ten new comedians will perform in the hope of making it through to the semi-final at the Edinburgh Festival.
