Matt lays it on thick, and Usha lends an ear.
Emma's frosty attitude puzzles Nic until Emma reveals that Will's made her feel like she's neglecting her son George. Nic sympathises. She certainly hasn't noticed any difference in George, and Will hasn't said a word to her about George staying over for an extra night. She's with Emma all the way. Emma's grateful for Nic's support.
Usha gives Ruth the unwelcome news that now Brookfield's admitted liability for the IBR they could be sued - though it's unlikely. Ruth's startled, but more worried about how to forgive Pip. Usha advises that Ruth needs to wait until she feels ready. She knows she'll forgive Pip in the end so there's no rush.
Matt's keen to update Brian on what he's been up to in Costa Rica. Brian's suspicious. Why is Matt in Ambridge specifically? Matt assures him he's merely basing himself locally for his country-wide research. When Brian thinks he's being touted for investment, Matt tells him it's out of his league. Brian scoffs that he wouldn't come anywhere near one of Matt's schemes anyway. Matt explains why he bolted two years ago; Lilian was having an affair with his half-brother. He's happy for Lilian and Justin; he's not here to make trouble.
