Peggy hears the good news, and Ruth wants to keep a low profile.

Peggy complains to Jill about Anisha's attitude towards her cat, Bill. Peggy's deeply offended that the vet labelled him as obese. Peggy prefers "portly". Jill knowingly says they have to let the young make their own mistakes and they agree that children never stop being a worry.

David's pleased he's cleared the air with Pip but now he and Ruth have to work out how they tell the other farmers about Brookfield's culpability for the IBR. Jill appreciates it's going to be tricky. There's also the issue of Elizabeth's birthday party. Ruth isn't sure she can play happy families next to Pip when no-one else knows what Pip's done. David and Jill point out Pip may have been influenced. Ruth can't believe they're implying Toby's to blame and retreats to the office. David points out wryly that seeing the bill for their recent tractor repair will do nothing towards lifting Ruth's mood.

Justin declares Lilian's made him the happiest man in the world. Lilian reports Matt's transferred £50,000 to her account. She thinks it's pathetic, just a gesture to prove he's got money. They visit Peggy to show off Lilian's engagement ring. Peggy's initially concerned, but is soon won over by Justin's charm. She wishes them both happiness and is invited to a celebration of the engagement at The Bull on Thursday.
