Ruth regrets what she says, and Harrison tries to make amends.
Ed moans to Harrison about Emma's decision to splash out for the kids' birthdays and get another job to pay it off herself. He feels like it's a slap in the face.
Helen is cool with Ruth as they both drop round birthday presents for George and Keira. When Ruth suggests having a chat with Tony, Helen warns her not to make things worse. They quickly end up arguing over the IBR infection. In retaliation Ruth raises Bridge Farm's E.coli outbreak.
Susan castigates Harrison for not inviting older women in the village to play cricket. Harrison tries to defend himself but only worsens the situation and Susan storms off. Later, Harrison visits Usha to apologise for any offence he's caused. Usha still holds him to account on his oversight. An upset Ruth arrives and cuts their conversation short.
Ruth pours her sorrows out to Usha. She feels bad for the impact the IBR outbreak is having on Pip, Josh and Ben. Usha tells Ruth not worry about Helen, reminding her that it's a year since Helen stabbed Rob.
Ed tells Pip that Clarrie overheard Ruth and Helen's argument and is now in tears and urges her to tell her parents about the cows escaping sooner rather than later. She comes close to revealing the truth but Ruth's low mood makes Pip hold back.
