Katie Derham presents The BBC National Orchestra of Wales in British music including women composers in the week of International Women's Day (Wednesday).
Hilary Tann's arresting fanfare commemorates the tragic events of Tiananmen Square in 1989, and Adam Walker is the brilliant young soloist in the flute concerto by the orchestra's Composer in Association - Huw Watkins. Rumon Gamba continues his exploration of forgotten tone poems, and Ethel Smyth's Double Concerto for Violin, Horn and Orchestra prepares the way for Thursday's opera - The Boatswain's Mate.
