Pip needs an extra pair of hands, and Peggy voices her disappointment.
Pip wakes Toby early; some cows have escaped and she needs his help to round them up. She doesn't want to ask her parents, as they'll find out she didn't fix the fence she was supposed to. Pip and Toby separate the cows from Bridge Farm's Anguses and herd them back to Brookfield. Toby's craving breakfast, but Pip gets a call from Ed who's found more loose cows. Short of time, he lets her know he's put them on Home Farm land. Grateful Pip asks Ed not to tell anyone about the cows getting out. Later, she buys him a drink in thanks.
Ed and Eddie talk about Kirsty. They're pleased she's taking some time off, it's what she needs. Meanwhile, Eddie's being pestered by potential B&B guest Harriet Vane. She wants to know all about Ambridge Hall. Later, Eddie confides to Ed he's told Harriet that if she wants to pay too much for not a lot, she's welcome to the Snell's place.
Peggy summons Lilian to tea. Lilian's protestations that the affair with Justin is over fall on deaf ears. Peggy thinks Lilian's behaved badly, and it hurts her; marriage is sacred. Shocked Lilian takes refuge in The Bull, observing to Eddie that it turns out you're never too old to be told off by your mother.
