Toby searches for a helping hand, and Ian won't be fooled.

Toby has a lot to do to make the building at Hollowtree fit for gin distillation and Environmental Health will be visiting soon than he expected. Toby wants to call on Josh for help but Pip says he's too busy. Pip refuses to lend a hand given she needs to prepare for lambing and calving. Toby tries to persuade Bert to help him out at Hollowtree but Bert has far too much on. He's also intending to enter the library's poetry competition, which will take up some time, too. Pip tells him to call on Rex but Toby's not keen.

Ian finds Lily at Grey Gables searching for Yaz. She would like to get hold of any leftover canapés "for a friend". Ian sees through Lily's story, but still wishes her the best for her party.

Ian and Adam are uncomfortable with each other. Later, Adam chats to Bert while taking a break from work at Brookfield. They take in the view of the village. Bert reminisces he used to come to this spot if he'd had a disagreement with Freda. Bert's talk of Freda and marriage gives Adam food for thought.
