Jennifer tries to keep the peace, but Kate is unhappy, and Brian is not listening.
Brian collects Debbie from the airport and complains to her about how 'radical' Adam has become. He asserts that his own plan to buy land is the best way forward for Home Farm's sustainability. Debbie reminds Brian she's around for two weeks - there's no rush.
As Jennifer gets everything ready for a whole family dinner, Phoebe talks positively of her time so far at Oxford while Alice debates Brian's land purchase with Adam, dismissing its cost. Over dinner, Jennifer desperately tries to keep the discussion on family news and not the farm. Kate's leaves the table in a strop when Jennifer mentions her Mother Goose costume designs as a recent achievement.
Debbie talks to Adam about him and Ian, remembering the spark Adam had with Charlie. Adam is adamant he's not going to become another Brian. Meanwhile, Phoebe's impressed with Kate's costume sketches, but surprised that so few are actually made.
As Brian pours a post-dinner whisky, Debbie tries to impress on him that Adam's concerns for the land purchase are genuine. She warns Brian not to bulldoze through this decision, and says goodnight. She hands over her drink to Brian and suggests he could use some time to think.
