Daljit Nagra rummages through the BBC’s festive archives to select Paul Durcan's reading of his poem 'Christmas Day'. From 1997.

To mark the death last May of Paul Durcan, Daljit Nagra revisits the BBC's poetry archive to revisit the Irish poet reading his witty and moving poem 'Christmas Day'.

In the first of three parts, Paul begins his book-length poem setting out a funny, sweetly sad and often irreverent vision of Christmas.

Accustomed to loneliness, Paul accepts his friend Frank's invitation for Christmas lunch.
