Helen tries her best, and Eddie is on a hiding to nothing.

Eddie reports that Ed and Emma have given up on house hunting and are reconciled to returning to Ambridge View. At least it's plenty big enough. Joe retorts that Grange Farm's big enough for them all too, if they could only stay. He doesn't want to end his days on the Green. Eddie's not even sure they'll get that far. He's still worried about angry Will, who seems determined to avoid him.

Anna presents Carol with a bottle of wine as a thank you for putting up with her. Carol in turn shows Anna an itinerary: a holiday in the Austrian Alps for the two of them. With a wry smile, Anna thanks her mum with a good grace.

Later Anna sums up with Helen the evidence for the Bad Character application against Rob, making sure nothing's been overlooked. Brave Helen suddenly remembers Rob's taunt that she should kill herself to get away from him. Anna's pleased, but thinks there may be still more.

Tony feels Helen's getting some of her old spark back, and reports to Pat that Anna's trying to break through Helen's final barriers. Pat just hopes it's not too late. With the trial starting on Monday, they're running out of time!
