Nadia Murad, Yazidi activist

Sarah Montague speaks to Nadia Murad, who is campaigning for the world to take a tougher line on the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war.

When militants from the so-called Islamic State went into Nadia Murad's village in Northern Iraq they killed all the Yazidi men and took hundreds of women captive where they were passed between different men and raped. Nadia managed to escape and since then has become the face of a campaign for the world to take a tougher line on the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war. Today she will be honoured with the award of the Nobel Peace Prize. Sarah Montague spoke to her in London in 2016.
