Railway Children
Railway Children fight
for vulnerable children who live alone and at risk on the streets of India,
East Africa and the UK, where they suffer abuse and exploitation. They find
themselves living on the streets, after fleeing violence, poverty and neglect at
home, because there is nowhere else to go and no one to turn to. But often the
problems they face there are far worse than those endured at home.
Elnest

11 year old Elnest took
to the streets, as there was no one at home to look after him, his father was
dead and his mother was often in hospital with his desperately sick baby
brother.
Elnest and rescue worker

Elnest made the streets
his home until rescue worker Joram found him and saved him from the dangers of
the streets. Joram gained Elnest’s trust and worked tirelessly with him to
address the issues that led him to run away and his traumatic experiences on
the streets.
Elnest, his mum and his little brother

Elnest has been reunited
with his family and their future looks brighter, Railway Children helped his
mum to set up a business and got him back to school. Elnest recently gained an
apprenticeship as a mechanic.
