Ten Pieces Secondary
Ken Bruce presents another Ten Pieces of classical music, this selection aimed at inspiring secondary school children and getting them creative.
Friday Night Is Music Night - Ken Bruce presents another Ten Pieces of classical music aimed at children at secondary school level with the aim to inspire and get creative.
Last year the BBC launched an ambitious project to introduce classical music to children called Ten Pieces. This first stage was aimed at children aged 7 to 11 . More than half the primary schools in the country embraced the project and the children's creative responses - dance, art, animation and music composition were celebrated in a special children's prom at the Royal Albert Hall.
Now Ten Pieces is back with a new selection of classical works aimed at children aged 11-14 attending secondary schools. The new selection includes -
J. S. Bach - Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565 orchestrated by Leopold Stokowski
Leonard Bernstein - Mambo from Symphonic Dances from West Side Story
Georges Bizet - Habanera and Toreador Song from Carmen
Anna Clyne - Night Ferry
Haydn - Trumpet Concerto - Finale
Gabriel Prokofiev - Concerto for Turntables and Orchestra (5th mvnt - Snowtime)
Shostakovich - Symphony No. 10 (2nd movement - Allegro)
