This week’s guest is a journalist who dodged bullets in Tiananmen Square, saw the devastation as US planes bombed Tripoli, witnessed scenes of horror in Bosnia, Rwanda, Northern Ireland…the list could go on for a very long time.For more than two decades, where the action was, Kate Adie was too, one of the best known faces in broadcasting.

From local radio and regional television, she came to national fame in 1980, reporting live from the Iranian embassy siege in London.

She went on to spend fourteen years as the BBC’s Chief News Correspondent, and since then since she’s made many programmes and is regular presenter of Radio 4’s From Our Own Correspondent.

Kate talks to Roy Jenkins about some of her experiences, her views on faith, and the people she’s met along the way.
