Following the teams from the University of Leicester, the cathedral and the city as preparations are made to reinter the remains of the last Plantagenet king, Richard III.

When archaeologists found the remains of Richard III under a council car park in Leicester it was only the beginning. Inside Out have been following teams from the university, the cathedral and the city as they prepared to rebury the last Plantagenet king. From car park to cathedral is a journey of just a hundred steps but a million decisions. Can they get it right?

Leicestershire became crucially important to Richard III after Henry Tudor landed in Wales in August 1485.

The king stayed in Leicester on the night of 20 August before marching out to cut off Henry's progress through the midlands.

Richard's death at Bosworth, along with the recent discovery of his bones, have left a rich legacy in the area.

Richard III: Leicester welcomes king's remains

King Richard III's remains have arrived at Leicester Cathedral ahead of his reburial.

His funeral cortege entered the city at the historic Bow Bridge after touring landmarks in the county.

He will finally be reinterred during a ceremony on Thursday 26 March.

After his rediscovery in August 2012, Richard's remains had to be stored in a secure location in the University of Leicester.

Dr Lin Foxhall told the BBC's Inside Out the main concern was to keep the bones safe while treating them with respect.
