On a recent tour to China, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra was conducted by Martyn Brabbins. With the young Russian pianist Denis Kozhukhin, Beethoven's Emperor concerto exploded into life, and Vaughan Williams's popular, powerful and moving 5th Symphony was heard in China for one of the first times.
