Merv Hughes, Australian cricketer 1985 - 1994

Extra Time is at the Melbourne Cricket Ground speaking to Merv Hughes. To him cricket was physical and verbal combat. He was the fast bowler with the trademark handlebar moustache and a fierce glare who would often subject batsmen to a volley of wisecracks or outright abuse, also known as sledging. It hasn't gone away either; in the most recent series against England the Australian captain, Michael Clarke, was penalised after threatening to break the arm of an opponent.
