Seed Potatoes

Derek Roulston is a farmer from County Donegal. For the last twelve years he and his wife Linda, have been working with the Presbyterian Church in Ireland’s Mission Overseas to help potato farmers in Kenya. Along with other farming experts and the local churches in the Galana area of Kenya, he founded the Wheat Foundation – Working to improve Health, Education, Agriculture and The Environment. This outreach through rural development programme has given the local community many reasons to celebrate harvest.

Fisherman’s Mission

The Fishermen’s Mission works to provide physical and spiritual support to fishing communities around the UK. Maurice Lake is the mission’s representative in Ireland.

Sam Cully is the skipper of a trawler based in Portavogie, Northern Ireland. Last year, Sam’s boat capsized while fishing off the County Down coast. After two hours in the water, he was rescued by the RNLI and he feels that this was only possible because he was wearing a life preserver supplied by the Fishermen’s mission.

Restore

Restore is an initiative based at Holywood Baptist Church in Northern Ireland. Volunteers from the group, aim to show the love of Christ in a practical way, by sourcing and delivering surplus produce to families within their area.

Congregational hymns in this programme were recorded at St Patrick’s Church, Jordanstown.

The performance item by Stuart Townend (Streets of the City from his album 'Paths of Grace') was recorded at Belfast’s historic Conway Mill. This is a renovated flax spinning mill which is now used as a community resource and home to many business enterprises.

The performance item by The Taylor Quartet (I'm Going To Make It) was recorded at The Temple of the Winds, part of the National Trust property at Mount Stewart, County Down.

Nigel McClintock was our organist for the congregational items performed at St Patrick's Church, Jordanstown.

The congregational pieces were also accompanied by The Ulster Orchestra’s Brass Ensemble.

The congregation for the hymns was made up from churches from within the Jordanstown area.
