Tiger Woods was victorious when this course last staged the competition in 2006 - the last of his trio of Open wins. And he was also the last golfer to successfully defend the title.
Last year's winner was American Phil Mickelson, who finished with a stunning round of 66 to surge ahead of his rivals at Muirfield and claim his first Open title.
