At the height of the worst wildfire season in a decade, Kate Humble and Simon Reeve travel to New South Wales, Australia to discover how the 70,000-strong Rural Firefighting Service contend with as many as 100 fires a day.

Simon joins a spectacular aerial operation as the team waterbomb a new wildfire spreading dangerously fast in a remote national park. And Kate experiences first-hand what it's like to be inside a firefighting truck as the flames approach.

In the second programme of the series, Simon and Kate explore why wind is such a lethal factor in the spread of wildfires, and uncover the causes of the biggest and most extreme fires, meeting leading scientists working to unlock the secrets of wildfire behaviour.
