How safe are amusement fair rides?

Since the millennium about 1,400 people and 700 workers have been injured on or around amusement fair rides.
So has safety improved at funfairs over the past decade?
Showman's Guild spokesperson James Mellor, who has a good safety record with his own fairgrounds, explains how the industry is improving safety on funfair rides.
