Blue
Episode 2 of 3
Dr James Fox explores how the arrival in Europe of lapis lazuli turned blue into an exotic colour. Artists began to use it to offer us glimpses of worlds beyond our own.
Dr James Fox explores how, in the hands of artists, the colours gold, blue and white have stirred emotions, changed behaviour and even altered the course of history.
