Defending champion and recent world No 1 Luke Donald is one of those who began the tournament hoping to lay down a marker for next week's Open. Donald is also looking to bounce back from a disappointing US Open where he failed to make the cut. Three times major winner Padraig Harrington and 2010 Open champion Louis Oosthuizen are among others hoping to make an impression.
