1. Opera, Shoes and Security

Roger begins his tour in Shanghai with a visit to an opera museum, an unusual shoe museum and a security museum. From 2012.

Roger Law travels to China to find out what has brought about museum fever.

With new museums opening every month, he wants to know what the Chinese are displaying and why.

He begins in Shanghai with a visit to an opera museum, a rather unusual shoe museum in a private house, and a security museum where all the guns of the city's gangsters are on display.

It's certainly a whole new world of curiosities.

Produced by Mark Rickards.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in July 2012.
