An official report says more than half of all criminals ordered to wear an electronic tag are breaking the terms of their curfew. Should we tag offenders - or lock them up?
Senior whistleblowers in the probation service have told BBC Radio 5live that problems in the way offenders are being tagged mean the public is being put at risk. Also an official report shows more than half of all criminals ordered to wear an electronic tag are breaking the terms of their curfew. But one of the main security companies says that 99% of people who've been tagged say it stopped them re-offending. And - of course - our prisons are very overcrowded. But is tagging just a licence to re-offend? Should offenders be tagged or locked up?
