Susan Morrison, who has long been obsessed with the Titanic disaster of 1912, investigates its terrible predecessor, the Norge disaster of 1904.
Just eight years before the Titanic's maiden voyage ended so tragically, another ship, the SS Norge, went down near Rockall, 300 miles out from the Western Isles, with the loss of 635 souls. It was the biggest loss of life on the transatlantic route before the Titanic. It was a Clydebuilt ship, sunk off the coast of Scotland, and most of the survivors came ashore in Scotland. It had all the hallmarks of the Titanic disaster, though nobody learned the lessons at the time. This is the untold story of Scotland's Titanic.
