Shirley’s alarmed to discover her front door open and no-one home. Noticing that Phil’s alienated the whole Square, Shirley plans a Christmas party. Phil’s frustrated to receive another sinister message in a black envelope. Shirley’s upset at the lack of interest in her party and closes the Vic to entice people to attend. When Phil’s less than enthusiastic, Shirley explains with most of the residents attending they could find the stalker. At the party, Jack reveals to Ian that Phil’s been receiving hate mail. The party’s a wash-out as everyone leaves early. When Heather chokes on a scotch egg, Phil fetches her inhaler from her bag and is floored to discover several black envelopes inside, identical to the ones used by the stalker.
When Jean bumps into a handsome stranger in the Minute Mart and again in the Vic, she’s delighted. Jealous, Kim flirts with him but is frustrated when he asks questions about Jean’s employment at the Vic. At Shirley’s party, Kat tells the man to ask her out. The man reveals he’s a Benefit Fraud Officer and accuses Jean of claiming benefits whilst working. Realising Mo’s behind it, Jean’s distraught.
Max buys a tacky illuminated Santa to brighten up the house. Discussing her illness, Tanya’s relieved when Max admits he’s just as scared as she is. Facing the fact this could be their last Christmas together, Tanya gives Max the chance to walk away. Max refuses.
Lola thinks Billy should tell the police the stolen goods were Phil’s. When Billy’s attempts to confront Phil fail, an outraged Lola wants to tackle him herself. Billy talks her out of it.
A package wrapped in black paper arrives at the B&B for Denise, Kim puts it under the Christmas tree.
