The Unbearable Lightness of Being

Romantic drama. Following the Soviet invasion of his country in 1968, Czech surgeon Tomas (Daniel Day-Lewis) is forced to flee to Switzerland, with his wife and mistress in tow.

Adaptation of Milan Kundera's 1984 bestseller. Tomas, a womanising Czech doctor, meets the waif-like Tereza and falls in love.
