Period drama. Two sisters (Judi Dench and Maggie Smith) befriend a man who they find washed up on the beach of their 1930s Cornish village. Directed by Charles Dance.
Elderly spinster sisters Ursula and Janet live in a tight-knit Cornish fishing village. In the spring of 1936, they are amazed to find a young Polish man on their local beach who has been washed overboard during a storm. At first unable to communicate as they nurse him back to health, the two sisters' lives are transformed by the presence of this handsome stranger in their home, but the bond between the three is disturbed by the presence of a holidaying Russian artist who vies for his attention.
