The gang mistakenly believe Don might be seriously ill. However, when Don discovers this, he continues the lie rather than owning up. For the first time in his life he gets the kind of love and affection he has always craved. As the lie becomes more and more elaborate even Don starts to feel guilty and eventually he is forced to confess.
