Sue Barker introduces live coverage of the London Marathon as both the elite and fun runners line up for the 30th edition of the world-famous race.

Steve Cram, Paul Dickenson, Brendan Foster, Tanni Grey Thompson and Paula Radcliffe commentate on proceedings as the men's and women's elite races begin and the elite wheelchair athletes also start their quest for glory. Germany's Irina Mikitenko is striving for her third straight London crown after last year becoming the first woman to win back-to-back races since Paula Radcliffe in 2003. She held off a determined challenge from Briton Mara Yamauchi, who eventually came home in second. Yamauchi won the New York Half Marathon in March and goes into the race with a real chance of taking a first victory in London.
