Lavish, multi-Oscar-winning musical set in the Paris of the 1890s. Madame Alvarez is determined that her granddaughter carry on the family tradition by becoming the mistress of wealthy sugar magnate Gaston Lachaille. Lachaille proves more than willing to accept the illegitimate Gigi, falls in love and decides to marry her. Madame is thrown into a turmoil - there has never been an honest woman in the family before.
