Charmingly eccentric film about the pursuit of a dream. A young woman is determined to win the local Miss Firecracker beauty contest as a way out of small-town Southern life. Carnelle Scott made an idol out of older cousin Elain, a past Miss Firecracker and speaker at the Fourth of July pageant, and she enlists the help of a motley crew of characters in her ferocious attempts to emulate that feat.
